How to Get More Clients for Your Permanent Makeup Business
To get more permanent makeup clients, whether you do microblading, powder brows or lip blush, make your studio easy to find and easy to trust (a complete Google Business Profile, healed before-and-after photos, steady reviews and a price on each service page), then answer every new lead fast, nights and weekends too. Follow up when she goes quiet, remind her before her consult, and if people already reach out but don't book, fix your replies before you look for more leads.

Make your studio easy to find and easy to trust
Before someone reaches out, she may look you up on Google, check your website or scroll your Instagram. Each one should show her your healed work and make it easy to reach you.
Start with your Google Business Profile. It's your listing on Google Search and Maps, and it can show up when someone near you searches for microblading or lip blush. Pick the category that fits you best and add each service you offer. Keep your hours and phone number current. Add photos of healed work as you get them, and keep new reviews coming in, month after month (more on that below).
On your website, give each service its own page: microblading, powder brows, combo brows and lip blush, whichever you offer. Put the price, or a starting price, on each page. Say what's included, like whether the touch-up is. Add healed photos of that service and an easy way to reach you. Price comes up a lot. In the studios we work with, 44% of leads who texted asked about price or cost (7,716 leads across 36 studios, Jun 1 to Oct 20, 2026).
On Instagram, post healed before-and-afters, not only fresh work. Fresh brows and lips look different once they heal. The healed result is what she'll live with, so that's what she wants to see. Take healed photos at each touch-up, in the same light and from the same angle as her before photo, and get her okay before you post. Say which service each post shows, and put a way to reach you in your bio.
Answer every new lead fast, nights and weekends too
A lot of leads come in after you've closed for the day. In the studios we work with, 43% of lead form fills arrived between 8pm and 7am, and the busiest hour of the day was 9pm (14,067 leads across 36 studios, Jun 1 to Oct 20, 2026).
The first day matters: 58% of people who booked a consult did it within 24 hours of filling out the form (1,148 people across 26 studios, form fills Jun 1 to Sep 20, 2026). If she hears back right away, she can ask her question and pick a time while she's still thinking about it. By the next afternoon, she's back in her busy day.
You don't have to live on your phone to be fast. Here's what helps:
- Know every place leads reach you (texts, calls, Instagram and Facebook messages, your website form and any ad forms) and turn on notifications for each one.
- If you miss a call, text her back right away.
- Reply to her, then offer a couple of consult times.
- Put a link to book a consult on your Google profile, your website and your Instagram bio, so she can book at night without waiting for you.
Follow up when leads go quiet, and send reminders
A lead who stops answering hasn't always decided against you. In the studios we work with, more than a third of the people who booked went quiet for a day or more first, and most of them came back within a day of a text from the studio (412 of 1,148 people, form fills Jun 1 to Sep 20, 2026). Quiet isn't the same as no.
Follow up more than once, spaced out over days and weeks. Keep each text short and easy to answer, like asking which of two times works for her. Send the follow-ups you start during the day, in her time zone. And stop when she says no or asks you to stop.
When you offer consult times, include some in the next few days, not only weeks out. We've seen that consults booked 5 or more days out were cancelled or moved more often than ones booked sooner, 61% against 46% (1,867 consults across 32 studios, appointments Jun 1 to Oct 13, 2026). That's a pattern, not proof that booking sooner prevents cancellations, so keep an eye on your own calendar too.
Then send a reminder before every consult, a day or two ahead and again that morning. Include the time, your address and where to park. Ask her to reply to confirm, so you know who's coming.
Ask for reviews and referrals
Ask every client for a review, and ask when she's happiest, like when she sees her healed result at her touch-up. Text her the link to your Google review page that same day, so it's one tap.
That means everyone, not only the clients you're sure loved it. And never trade a discount or a gift for a review. Google's rules don't allow either one. Reply to every review, good or bad, briefly and kindly.
Then ask happy clients for referrals. When a friend asks about her brows or lips, make it easy for her to send that friend to you: a card, or a text with your booking link that she can forward. And thank everyone who sends someone your way.
If leads come in but don't book, fix this first
Getting more clients doesn't always mean getting more leads. If people already reach out and don't book, start with them. They've already found you.
To see where you're losing people, count three things for the last month or two: how many people reached out, how many booked a consult and how many showed up. Start with the step where the count drops the most.
If few people reach out at all, start with Google, your website and Instagram, and add ads once you're ready to answer every lead fast. If plenty book but few show up, start with reminders. If plenty reach out but few book, fix your replies first:
- Answer every new lead fast, nights and weekends too.
- Reply to her and offer a couple of consult times.
- Follow up more than once when she goes quiet.
- Offer some consult times in the next few days, not only weeks out.
Where Permanent Profits fits
You can do everything on this page yourself, and none of it needs an agency. The hard part isn't knowing what to do. It's doing it every night and every weekend, while you're with clients all day.
If you'd rather hand off the ads and the texting, that's what we do. We run your Facebook and Instagram ads, and our AI texting assistant texts your new leads as your studio, day or night. It answers her questions, follows up when she goes quiet, sends reminders and books consultations onto your own calendar. You can read every conversation and step in any time.
It's $0 to start. For your first 45 days of ads, our only fee is $50 per consultation that shows up. Your ad spend goes straight to Meta on your own card, with a $500 minimum across the 45 days, and we suggest about $30 a day. Texts and calls pass through at carrier cost. At day 45, you decide. If you keep going, there's a one-time activation fee based on your results, then a small monthly amount plus a small fee for each consult that shows.
Questions artists ask
How can I get more permanent makeup clients without paying for ads?
Fill out your Google Business Profile, post healed before-and-afters on Instagram and ask every client for a review and a referral. Then answer everyone who reaches out fast, nights and weekends too, and follow up with anyone who goes quiet. None of that needs an ad budget, just your time.
Should I put my prices on my website?
Yes, at least a starting price for each service. Price comes up a lot: in the studios we work with, 44% of leads who texted asked about price or cost (7,716 leads across 36 studios, Jun 1 to Oct 20, 2026). A starting price on the page answers the question before she has to ask it, and you can go over her exact price at the consult.
How do I get more Google reviews for my PMU studio?
Ask every client, and ask when she's happiest, like when she sees her healed result at her touch-up. Text her the link to your Google review page that same day, so it's one tap. Never trade a discount or a gift for a review, and don't ask only the clients you're sure loved it. Google's rules don't allow either one.
How fast should I answer a new lead?
As fast as you can, nights and weekends too. In the studios we work with, 58% of people who booked a consult did it within 24 hours of filling out the form (1,148 people across 26 studios, form fills Jun 1 to Sep 20, 2026). If you can't always be at your phone, put a link to book a consult on your Google profile, your website and your Instagram bio.
I get leads but they don't book. What should I fix first?
Your replies, before you look for more leads. Answer every new lead fast, nights and weekends too, follow up more than once when she goes quiet and offer some consult times in the next few days. Then send a reminder before every consult.
