Facebook and Instagram Ads for Permanent Makeup Artists
Facebook and Instagram ads find people near you who want brows or lip blush, and in our program we suggest about $30 a day ($500 minimum over 45 days). But ads only find people: whether those leads book a consultation comes down to how fast someone texts them back and whether anyone follows up.

How Facebook ads work for permanent makeup
Facebook and Instagram ads both run through Meta. You pick an area around your studio, make an ad with your work, and pay Meta to show it to people there.
The ads we run for studios lead to a short form. Someone taps the ad, types in her name and phone number, and sends it. That's a lead.
Once she sends that form, the ad's job is done. Whether she ever books depends on what happens next, and that's about how she's answered, not the ad.
How much to spend on Facebook ads for PMU
In our program, your ad spend goes straight to Meta on your own card. There's a $500 minimum across your first 45 days, and we suggest about $30 a day.
That money pays Meta to show your ads. None of it comes to us. Our fee is separate: for your first 45 days, it's $50 per consultation that actually shows up. Texts and calls pass through at cost, a few cents each.
If you run ads yourself, here's the honest rule: spending more helps most when someone is ready to answer every lead it brings in, fast. Doubling your budget won't help if the extra leads wait until morning.
Why PMU leads don't book
When leads don't book, it's easy to blame the ads. Before you do, look at timing and follow-up.
Timing first. A lot of leads come in when you're not at your phone. In the studios we work with, 43% of lead form fills arrived between 8pm and 7am, and the busiest hour of the day was 9pm (14,067 leads across 36 studios, Jun 1 to Oct 20, 2026). And 58% of people who booked a consult did it within 24 hours of filling out the form (1,148 people across 26 studios, form fills Jun 1 to Sep 20, 2026), so that first day matters.
Picture it. She fills out your brow form late at night, after a long day. If she gets a text back right away, she can ask her question and pick a time while she's still thinking about it. If she hears nothing until tomorrow afternoon, she's back in her busy day, and your ad paid for a maybe.
Then follow-up. People get busy. They mean to text back and don't. In those same studios, more than a third of the people who booked went quiet for a day or more first, and most of them came back within a day of a text from the studio (412 of 1,148 people, form fills Jun 1 to Sep 20, 2026). Quiet isn't the same as no.
Then how far out she books. We've also seen that consults booked 5 or more days out were cancelled or moved more often than ones booked sooner, 61% against 46% (1,867 consults across 32 studios, appointments Jun 1 to Oct 13, 2026). So when you offer times, offer some that are soon.
If your ads get leads but no bookings, start here
If you run your own ads, check these first:
- Answer every lead fast, including nights and weekends.
- Answer the question she actually asked, then offer a consult time.
- Follow up when someone goes quiet.
- Offer some consult times in the next few days, not only weeks out.
- Send reminders before the consult.
- Track consults that show, not just leads. That's the number that pays you.
Running ads yourself or having them run for you
You can run your own Facebook ads. If you do, the ad is usually the easier part. The harder part is being on your phone at night, every night, and following up with everyone who goes quiet. Either way, judge your ads by consults that show up, not by likes or clicks.
If you'd rather keep it in your hands and learn it, a course or coaching might fit you better, and that's a fair choice. If you'd rather hand it off, that's what we do.
What ads can and can't do
Ads can put your work in front of people near you who might want brows or lip blush. They can't answer her questions, find a time that works or remind her about her consult. And no ad can make up for a slow reply.
That's why we pair the ads with an AI texting assistant. The ads bring people in. The texting is what turns a lead into a booked consult.
How we run Facebook ads for PMU studios
We set up and run your Facebook and Instagram ads. Then our AI texting assistant takes over the leads. It texts each new lead within about a minute, day or night, answers her questions in your studio's voice and books consultations onto your own calendar.
It follows up with people who go quiet and sends reminders. You see every conversation in an app and can step in any time.
It's $0 to start. For your first 45 days of ads, our only fee is $50 per consultation that shows up, and you pay your own ad spend to Meta and texts at cost. At day 45, you decide whether to keep going.
Questions artists ask
How much should a permanent makeup artist spend on Facebook ads?
In our program, there's a $500 minimum across your first 45 days, and we suggest about $30 a day. It goes straight to Meta on your own card. Whatever you spend, it works best when someone answers the leads fast.
Is $500 enough for Facebook ads?
It can be enough to start, if you give it time and answer every lead fast. Meta's system learns from the results each ad gets, so a smaller budget gives it fewer results to learn from, and it takes longer to settle. Spread the money over weeks, not days, leave the ad alone while it learns (a big edit makes it start learning again), and judge it by consults that show up, not clicks or likes.
Is $10 a day enough for Facebook ads?
It can put an ad in front of people near you, but it learns slowly. At $10 a day, about $300 a month, Meta has fewer results to learn from, so give it a few weeks before you judge it, keep the ad and the area the same while it runs, and make sure every lead it brings gets a fast answer. Then judge it by consults that show up.
Why am I getting leads but no bookings?
Check speed and follow-up before you change the ads. How fast does a new lead hear back, even at night? Does anyone text again when she goes quiet? Ads find people. Fast answers and follow-up are what get them booked.
Should I run ads on Facebook or Instagram?
You don't have to pick. Meta runs ads on both from one place, and we run your ads on both.
Do you run ads for lip blush, or just brows?
Both. We run ads for brows (microblading, powder and combo) and lip blush. If you lead with another service, say so in your application.
How long before I know if my ads are working?
Give it real time. We use 45 days. At day 45, you look at your own consults and decide whether to keep going.

Permanent Profits is run by Isabelle Marrone, a permanent makeup artist, and Evan Marrone. We work with one artist per area, so we don't run the same campaign for two artists in one area.
