Put in your costs, your time, your price and your goal, and see the least you can charge per client, how many clients that takes a month, and how many consults you need to book and show up to get there.

Each client you don't book is $550 short of your goal, so a slow month with three fewer clients costs you $1,650.

A market check, not a price to copy

For comparison, the median starting price for brows was $550, and the middle half charged $413 to $599 (30 brow studios we work with, prices on file Oct 25, 2026). Your rent, experience and healed work aren't theirs, so price from your floor and your market.

How the math works

Your floor is the least you can charge per client and still hit your goal. Add your running costs to what you want to pay yourself, divide by the hours you book with clients, multiply by the hours one client takes, and add her supplies. With the made-up numbers above: ($2,400 + $5,600) over 80 hours is $100 an hour, times 5 hours is $500, plus $50 in supplies is a floor of $550.

Clients you need are the same costs and goal divided by what each client leaves after supplies. At $600, each client leaves $550, so 15 clients a month.

Consults you need work back from there. If 50% of consults that show up book, you need 30 to show up. If 70% of booked consults show up, you need 43 on the calendar, about 9.9 a week.

Check your market without copying it

For comparison, the median starting price for brows was $550, and the middle half charged $413 to $599 (30 brow studios we work with, prices on file Oct 25, 2026). That's a market check, not a price to copy: their rent, experience and healed work aren't yours, and a price that works for them can lose you money.

When the numbers don't work

If you need more clients than your hours allow, or more consults than you get, there are five levers:

  • Your price, if your healed work supports it.
  • Your running costs, especially anything you pay every month and rarely use.
  • The hours you book, by filling gaps rather than opening longer.
  • How many booked consults show up. How to cut consultation no-shows.
  • How many consults book, which comes down to your healed photos and the consult itself.

Questions artists ask

How much should I charge for microblading?

There's no one right number for every artist. Work out your floor from your costs, your time and what you want to pay yourself, then check what artists near you charge for similar healed work. For comparison, the median starting price for brows was $550, and the middle half charged $413 to $599 (30 brow studios we work with, prices on file Oct 25, 2026).

How many clients does a PMU artist need a month?

It depends on your price, your costs and what you want to take home. Add your monthly running costs to what you want to pay yourself, and divide by what each client leaves after supplies. With the made-up numbers on this page, that's 15 clients a month.

How do I turn clients needed into consults needed?

Divide the clients you need by the share of consults that book the procedure, which gives the consults that have to show up. Divide that by the share of booked consults that show up, which gives the consults you need on the calendar. Use your own rates from the last few months if you track them.

Does this include taxes?

No. What you want to pay yourself is before taxes, which depend on where you live and how your business is set up. Ask a tax professional what to set aside.
